چکیده

Background: The Zika virus (ZIKV) infection has emerged as a global health threat. The causal reasoning is that linked to the development of microcephaly in newborns and Guillain-Barré syndrome adults. With no clinically approved antiviral treatment for ZIKV, need potential inhibitors against essential. In this study, we aimed screen phytochemicals from papaya (Carica L.) NS5 protein domains ZIKV. Methods: Approximately 193 an online database (IMPACT) were subjected molecular docking using AutoDock Vina NS5-MTase domain (5WXB) -RdRp (5UO4). Results: Our results showed β-sitosterol, carpaine, violaxanthin, pseudocarpaine, Δ7-avenasterols, Rutin, cis-β-carotene had highest binding affinity both domains, with β-sitosterol having most favorable energy. Furthermore, ADME analysis revealed selected compounds good pharmacokinetic properties nontoxic. Conclusions: findings suggest papaya-derived could be candidates developing drugs ZIKV. However, further experimental studies cell lines in vivo models are needed validate their efficacy safety.

Targeting the NS5 Protein of Zika Virus

Non-structural protein 5 (NS5) is highly conserved and plays an essential role among Flaviviruses. The recent structural elucidation of the Zika virus (ZIKV) NS5 variant paves the way for the development of structuralbased inhibitors for the clinical management of ZIKV infections. Herein, we present our ongoing study design and findings for targeting ZIKV NS5 for drug discovery. Keywords—Zika v...

Structures of NS5 Methyltransferase from Zika Virus

The Zika virus (ZIKV) poses a major public health emergency. To aid in the development of antivirals, we present two high-resolution crystal structures of the ZIKV NS5 methyltransferase: one bound to S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) and the other bound to SAM and 7-methyl guanosine diphosphate (7-MeGpp). We identify features of ZIKV NS5 methyltransferase that lend to structure-based antiviral drug di...

Virtual Screening for Potential Inhibitors of NS3 Protein of Zika Virus

Zika virus (ZIKV) is a mosquito borne pathogen, belongs to Flaviviridae family having a positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome, currently known for causing large epidemics in Brazil. Its infection can cause microcephaly, a serious birth defect during pregnancy. The recent outbreak of ZIKV in February 2016 in Brazil realized it as a major health risk, demands an enhanced surveillance and a ne...

Carica papaya MicroRNAs Are Responsive to Papaya meleira virus Infection

MicroRNAs are implicated in the response to biotic stresses. Papaya meleira virus (PMeV) is the causal agent of sticky disease, a commercially important pathology in papaya for which there are currently no resistant varieties. PMeV has a number of unusual features, such as residence in the laticifers of infected plants, and the response of the papaya to PMeV infection is not well understood. Th...

Characterization of the lipase from Carica papaya residues Caracterização da lipase de resíduos de Carica papaya

Lipases from vegetable sources have been the focus of intense and growing research. The use of enzymes from plants has the advantage of employing industrial waste products. Brazil is the world’s largest papaya producer and the market for products derived from papaya is growing year after year. In this study, the authors carried out the characterization and partial purification of the lipase obt...
